Team 5851 Mentors
Glenn Yamasaki
Mr. Yamasaki, or as Team 5851 calls him, Yamo, has been teaching PLTW Engineering for over 20 years. He has devoted his career to teaching students what they need to pursue careers in STEM fields. In 2013, Mr. Yamasaki was presented with the Claes Nobel Top 10 Educators of the Year. This award is just a small representation of what he does for our team. In 2015 Mr. Yamasaki started the FRC Team Striking Vikings, and now is the lead mentor. Yamo’s dedication to this team is commendable. Every member of the Striking Vikings will say that they are grateful for every ounce of effort he has put into this team; even his past students will attest to him changing their lives for the better. Yamo has given all his students from different backgrounds a chance at being successful STEM students, countless opportunities, and most importantly, a home they can always return to and count on. Yamo has done and will do whatever it takes for his students to succeed.
